About the Campaign

What if the banana peel, plastic cup, glass bottle or cardboard box you throw away today could become part of a cleaner, healthier future tomorrow?

That simple idea sits at the heart of our country-wide public awareness campaign 'Let's adopt new habits. Let's use waste!'. Launched by Project CETAP, the campaign is designed to help citizens rethink waste — not as a problem, but as a valuable resource.

The purpose of this campaign is to increase the environmental awareness across Bosnia and Herzegovina with regard to solid waste management, focusing specifically on how good waste separation, recovery, and recycling practices can positively impact the country - environmentally and economically.

Our Campaign Activities

From the beginning of 2026, we will be partnering with organisations and individuals alike to deliver a host of activities, including regular articles, newsletters, social media content, media interviews and success-story videos.

Then in spring, our focus shifts to learning and participation, and we will be launching our community and school competitions in partnership with organisations. Summer brings the campaign into public spaces and you will see the Eco Guardians on public transport advertising, billboards and recycling-site banners nationwide. Helping to guide and encourage waste disposal practices. And then through autumn and winter, the campaign will launch community and business clean-up events which we want you to participate in! Want to get involved? Sign up to our Newsletter below and be the first to hear when our events and competitors go live!

Our Campaign Objectives

We have three objectives which our campaign will look to deliver, these are:

  1. To deliver an increased public understanding and support for the development of a comprehensive set of legislation harmonised with the EU Waste Package.
  2. Enhanced awareness among the public and stakeholders about the policy frameworks developed to facilitate the transition towards a circular economy.
  3. Enhanced citizen awareness and engagement in viable programmes for the collection and treatment of solid waste, rooted in the principles of the circular economy.

To help us do this we've enlisted the help of the Eco Guardians

When waste ends up in the wrong place, nature loses its strength. That’s when the Eco Guardians step in – a group of heroes who believe that each of us has a super power: proper waste separation.

Their mission is simple yet powerful – to show that a banana, a bottle, a box and a cup are not trash, but valuable resources. Through small changes in everyday habits, they work together to protect the environment and build a cleaner, healthier future.

Bananko: The Bio-Waste Hero
